CHIMEI is dedicated to providing a safe and appropriate working environment for employees. We have attained various certifications for our management system and structure that complies with international regulations, for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment. Through process safety management, hazard identification and risk assessment, health risk management, continuous education and training, and improvement activities, comprehensive risk management is conducted to reduce the impact of hazard risks on stakeholders.
CHIMEI’s initiative “A Step Up” is powered by the collective effort of every colleague. Since 2010, we have regularly organized the Kiken Yochi (KY) conference, focused on hazard prediction, and conducted thematic KY competitions based on analysis of past accidents to raise awareness of risks among our colleagues. We have also implemented a reward system to incentivize active participation. Recently, through cross-strait exchanges and interviews with awarded staff members, we have effectively demonstrated our commitment to continuously improving fundamental safety practices to our employees.

Since its establishment in 1990, CHIMEI Phoenix Squad has continually improved its firefighting and emergency rescue capabilities. We have also partnered with the Tainan City Fire Bureau, signing a support agreement to aid in disaster prevention efforts and contribute actively to society. Furthermore, due to the high risks faced by firefighters during chemical factory disasters, CHIMEI is prioritizing the application of smart equipment for early response and the protection of frontline emergency responders is a key principle of CHIMEI’s response strategy.
Through systematic emergency response drills, CHIMEI has enhanced employees’ ability to respond rapidly to sudden incidents, thereby maximizing the protection of our personnel’s safety and corporate assets.

In recent years, climate change has led to a noticeable rise in global temperatures, increasing health risks for outdoor workers. To mitigate heat-related illnesses, CHIMEI has transformed airbox temperature and humidity data into an indoor heat index for greater accuracy. Furthermore, we have adopted a range of preventive measures from both management and implementation perspectives to tackle the challenges posed by climate change.
Under the management aspect:
These measures include comprehensive education and training sessions, risk assessments for personnel operations, and establishing the heat index at the Rende Plant.
Under the implementation aspect:
Initiatives include actively distributing salt candies, establishing designated rest areas for contract workers, and automated checks.
CHIMEI highly values employees' occupational safety and health. Each year, we provide comprehensive safety and health education and training through online learning, promotional lectures, and insights shared by other businesses. Our goal is to strengthen employees’ awareness and skills in safety.

Each year, CHIMEI designs safety and health programs based on passive indicators of on-site accidents. In 2023, we collaborated with the Police Bureau to organize commuting safety advocacy, and collaborated with the Agriculture Bureau to hold bee and snake hazard prevention course for outdoor workers. In terms of in-factory transportation safety, we introduced Virtual Reality (VR) technology. This immersive experience simulates various accident scenarios using realistic images, sounds, and sensations to emphasize the importance of road users prioritizing their own safety.

In the era of digital transformation, CHIMEI upholds the 'people-oriented' concept of promoting safety and health, and utilizes AI to identify hazards to enhance labor quality. With AI technology, we can efficiently detect unsafe behaviors and environments, and proactively provide reminders, striving to create a healthy and safe workplace.
CHIMEI has been actively promoting the concept of carbon handprint. Since implementing a contractor management information system in 2012, we have greatly reduced our paper usage. By reorganizing our operating procedures, we have noticeably improved our management efficiency.
