Zhangzhou CHIMEI Chemical today (September 8) announced the commencement of official mass production at its newly-built ABS production lines. With an annual production capacity of 450,000 tons, these production lines are expected to be completely operational by December. The plant mainly supplies Mainland China's South China region and market to meet ABS' increasing demand in different industries and applications. The addition of the new production capacity has bumped up CHIMEI Corporation's total annual ABS production capacity to 2.6 million tons, as it continues to solidify its role as a leading supplier in the global ABS supply chain.
Zhangzhou CHIMEI Chemical, a reinvestment by CHIMEI Corporation, was founded in August 2018. It is located in the Gulei Port Economic Development Zone in Zhangzhou, Fujian. Construction of the stage-1 450,000-ton annual ABS production capacity began in November 2019. Members of the project team pooled their wisdom and efforts to ensure that construction was not disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The construction was completed in only 19 months, and mass production officially commenced today. Going forward, the plant's annual ABS production capacity will scale up to 600,000 tons, as annual PS production capacity of 350,000 tons and annual PC production capacity of 180,000 tons are set to be progressively added to the output, contributing to a combined annual output of more than 1 million tons in the future.
The Zhangzhou CHIMEI ABS plant was constructed employing high-grade safety designs as well as advanced environment-friendly equipment, in an attempt to build an energy-efficient, safe, green and high-performance next-generation plastics material plant.
