CHIMEI Corporation has long been committed to carbon reduction initiatives. Through the "natural gas replacement for heavy oil in our PC plant" offset project, the company has successfully reduced carbon emissions and became the first private enterprise in Taiwan to be allocated carbon credits by the Ministry of Environment. In 2018, CHIMEI Corporation obtained 103,000 tons of carbon credits, and this year, it has further acquired nearly 220,000 tons of carbon credits, demonstrating its strong commitment to environmental sustainability. With outstanding carbon reduction results, CHIMEI Corporation has accumulated a total of 320,000 tons of carbon credits, making it one of the leading private enterprises in Taiwan's carbon offset projects, continuously driving the industry towards a low-carbon transformation.
Since 2007, CHIMEI Corporation has conducted organizational carbon inventories in accordance with ISO14064. In 2022, all products passed the ISO14067 product carbon footprint verification, and in 2023, the company passed the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) review, committing to a 42% carbon reduction by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. CHIMEI Corporation not only continues to optimize internal carbon reduction measures but also expands its influence through carbon credit trading, transforming carbon reduction actions into corporate competitiveness and contributing to sustainable environmental development.
