CHIMEI Corporation's eco-documentary "Gifts of the Sun" was awarded the "Gold Award," "Best Environmental Resource Micro Movie," and "Internet Popularity Award" at the 8th Taipei Golden Eagle Micro Movie Festival on the August 9th. This marks another significant achievement for CHIMEI following its Bronze Award win at the 2nd Taiwan Biodiversity Awards, also organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, last month. These accolades underscore CHIMEI's ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Taipei Golden Eagle Micro Movie Festival is Taiwan's largest sustainability film festival, organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy. It focuses on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aims to promote sustainability awareness through the power of microfilms. This year, CHIMEI Corporation's "Gift of the Sun" stood out among 183 entries, winning the "Gold Award," "Best Environmental Resource Micro Movie," and "Internet Popularity Award." CHIMEI Corporation's Vice President, Denis Chen, attended the ceremony to accept the awards on behalf of the company.
"Gift of the Sun" is an ecological documentary filmed over the course of a year at CHIMEI's Green Energy Park. The park is Taiwan's first solar power plant that integrates tree and solar energy coexistence, preserving nearly two-thirds of its space for natural ecology. Since 2021, CHIMEI Corporation has worked with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology to conduct ecological surveys, documenting over 300 species of animals and plants within the park. The film showcases the diverse ecological landscapes of the park across different times and seasons, emphasizing the harmonious coexistence of green energy and ecological protection. Vice President Denis Chen stated, "With a responsible attitude towards history, CHIMEI spent a year producing this ecological documentary to demonstrate how our Green Energy Park serves as a gift from the sun, coexisting with biodiversity. This proves that renewable energy and ecology can harmoniously coexist. We proudly share these results, hoping to inspire more people to participate in biodiversity conservation." The film's production team, S-Studio, also mentioned, "Through a year of filming, we strived to reveal the beauty of nature and advocate for how humans can achieve a balance with nature without impacting the environment. CHIMEI's Green Energy Park is an excellent example of this."
CHIMEI hopes to use this opportunity to raise public awareness and understanding of the importance of biodiversity, encouraging participation in nature conservation. By supporting sustainable development and ecological protection actions, we aim to create a better environment for future generations. Moving forward, CHIMEI will continue to actively engage in sustainability issues and convey stories and ideas in diverse ways, allowing more people to see the possibilities and hope of sustainable development.
