CHIMEI Corporation, a global leading manufacturer of high-performance materials, has successfully launched its MS products this month as part of its Ecologue series of chemically recycled materials, the world’s first MS resin produced through chemically recycled MMA. Not only does the recycled MMA offer performance that is comparable to virgin MMA made from fossil fuels, it also simultaneously provides sustainability benefits such as carbon reduction and waste reduction, thereby providing a new option for the sustainable plastics market. CHIMEI is one of the few companies worldwide that can provide MS resin. MS features excellent transparency and optical properties, making it widely applied in food and water containers as well as light guide plates for displays.

By introducing chemical recycling technologies, namely "depolymerization" and "purification", CHIMEI has successfully turned waste PMMA plastics back into recycled MMA monomers, and then polymerized them and SM monomers into MS. This results in the Ecologue chemically recycled MS resin. These chemically recycled products have several key features. The properties of the recycled materials remain consistent with those of virgin materials, and the products’ carbon footprint is reduced by lowering the use of fossil fuel raw materials. Moreover, the damage to the Earth is reduced because waste plastics are recycled and reused instead of discarded. It is a comprehensive sustainable solution that can achieve high quality, carbon reduction, and plastic reduction.

CHIMEI continues to organize the Ecologue roadmap into three areas of innovation: recycling, bioplastics, and production. Currently, CHIMEI has launched mechanically recycled resin, biomass resin, bio rubber, and chemically recycled resin. CHIMEI named this series of materials Ecologue with the hopes that it would be more than just a “catalogue” of sustainable materials, instead it would represent a setting where “dialogue” would fuel change.
