After 2 years of commitment and effort, CHIMEI Corporation’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets has been validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) this month and is now listed on its official website. As the first petrochemical company in Taiwan to set targets in line with the Paris Agreement, we aim to limit global warming to 1.5°C and challenged ourselves to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. In the next 6 months, we will communicate our carbon reduction goals to stakeholders and regularly disclose emissions and target progress through annual sustainability reports and an ad hoc section on our official website.
While global focus remains on carbon reduction, we are actively engaged in process improvements, energy transition, and continuous promotion of sustainable material usage to reduce dependence on traditional petrochemical raw materials. We strive to comprehensively reduce emissions from Scope 1 to Scope 3 by taking practical steps towards our 2030 carbon reduction goals to advance towards net-zero with the rest of the world.
