“Creating lasting well-being for the whole world” has been the core purpose of CHIMEI Corporation since its founding. Since releasing its first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report last year, CHIMEI has continued to make improvements to its Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) strategy and transformed its CSR Report into a Sustainability Report that provides CHIMEI stakeholders with a clear account of the company’s efforts and achievements in ESG. CHIMEI has instituted partner collaborations to implement sustainable practices and ensure its sustainable competitiveness.
The 2020 CHIMEI Corporate Sustainability Report has been prepared in accordance with the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards published by the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), and the disclosed information was assured by an independent third party. CHIMEI obtained Type 1 Moderate Assurance from the British Standards Institution (BSI) for the report, which outlines CHIMEI’s roadmap to achieve five major aspects of sustainability—Sustainable Operations, Making Common Good with Partners, Commitment to Employees, Social Engagement, and Co-existence with the Environment—and delivers a comprehensive presentation of CHIMEI’s vision for the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the company’s SDG achievements and performance in the past year.
In 2020, coinciding with CHIMEI’s 60th anniversary, through the rebranding efforts, the company defined aspiraitonal sustainable development goal to strengthen and improve every aspect of the company’s operations. Environment-wise, CHIMEI launched CHIMEI Green Energy Park, the harmonious power plant with green energy and lush trees, to promote eco-friendly values and achieve the co-existence of clean energy, tree preservation, and green spaces. As the COVID-19 pandemic raged around the world, CHIMEI also put in a major effort toward social care by directing its supply of medical-grade plastic toward the international manufacture of life support equipment, thus helping to save lives. In the area of corporate governance, CHIMEI’s implementation of digital transformation in the past few years allowed it to maintain operational efficiency throughout the pandemic. CHIMEI also successfully implemented the ISO 27001 information security system standard as planned and achieved significant revenue growth of 127% compared to 2019, the highest since the company’s founding.
To further bring the company in line with international standards, CHIMEI has continued to implement multiple management standards in 2021, including the ISO 37001 standard for anti-bribery management systems and the standards of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Despite the current volatile environment, CHIMEI shall continue to uphold the spirit of “A Step Up” by taking action to ensure sustainable development and by working with its partners, affiliates, and employees to contribute to the environment and society.
