CHIMEI Corporation obtained the international certification for the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standard for information security management systems (ISMS), which was verified by the Taiwan branch of the international certification body-British Standards Institution (BSI). The certificate award ceremony took place on January 4th at the company’s headquarter, with CHIMEI Corporation’s Vice President of Administrative Affairs Denis Chen accepting the certificate on behalf of the company. CHIMEI obtained ISO 27001 international certification with the outstanding result of zero nonconformities, which reflects the recognition earned by the company in its establishment and implementation of an information security management system as well as its conformity to international information security standards.
CHIMEI President Chao Lin-yu is committed to three major principles for the company’s sustainable development: environmental protection, occupational safety, and information security. To demonstrate the company’s commitment towards information security and quality service for its clients around the globe, CHIMEI commissioned Chunghwa Telecom’s information security consulting team to establish an ISO 27001 consultancy service for the conducting of over 100 security control items, including the review of CHIMEI’s information processing process, enhancement of system and network security, establishment of a security control system for system development and design, and implementation of standard operating procedures. CHIMEI’s endeavors over the years and its implementation of a solid information security advocacy and training program have helped its employees understand and familiarize themselves with the company’s information security management system, allowing the company to perfect its information and communications security and protect the interests of its clients, suppliers, employees, and shareholders.
CHIMEI Vice President of Administrative Affairs Denis Chen said, “CHIMEI has long committed itself to information security. As the company follows the trend of emerging technologies in its incorporation of Industry 4.0 technologies and artificial intelligence and the comprehensive implementation of smart manufacturing and high-value product development, the security of the underlying information and communications system and network environment is ever more important. I am glad to announce that as CHIMEI enters its 60th year, we have completed the implementation of various support activities—including the incorporation of computer facilities management and network infrastructure for the company’s e-commerce platform and supplier management platform—and obtained ISO 27001 international certification. These accomplishments have upgraded the company’s information security management and are an important aspect of CHIMEI’s digital transformation for the purposes of helping the company achieve its mission of creating a sustainable world of Xingfu.”
ISO/IEC 27001 was derived from the BS 7799 international standard for information security management published by BSI. It provides the most standard and complete risk analysis and management process for helping organizations establish a comprehensive information security management system that effectively resolves existing information security issues while also mitigates potential risks in information security management.
