In August 2018, CHIMEI Corporation established Zhangzhou CHIMEI Chemical Co., Ltd. at the Gulei Petrochemical Complex in Fujian Province. Construction on the new ABS plant is currently under way, largely uninterrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The plant was designed to have an annual capacity of 600,000 metric tons of ABS during its first phase of operations. It is scheduled to begin production in Q3 2021, and is expected to add 450,000 metric tons of annual ABS yield to the company. In addition, the plant will begin producing 350,000 metric tons of PS annually in its second phase of operations and 180,000 metric tons of PC in the third. The company has completed land preparation for the plant expansions, and the second and third phases of production are set to begin by H2 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Zhangzhou CHIMEI Chemical is CHIMEI Corporation’s latest venture since it first invested in Zhenjiang CHIMEI Chemical Co., Ltd. in 1996, almost 25 years ago. It also serves as CHIMEI’s third manufacturing base. Standing on an 80-hectare plot of land, the new plant is equipped with the most advanced safety features and environmentally friendly facilities, making it a new-generation, high-performance plastics plant that is energy efficient, safe, and green.

The addition of Zhangzhou CHIMEI Chemical instills newfound momentum into CHIMEI Corporation in the form of a new production frontier. In the future, CHIMEI will continue to provide its customers and related industries with an abundant source of plastic materials as well as comprehensive services.
