CHIMEI Corporation has reached a new milestone in sustainability, achieving the highest possible "A" rating in the Climate Change questionnaire of the globally recognized CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) for 2024. This achievement reflects CHIMEI's exceptional environmental management practices, placing it among the world's leading companies in sustainability. It not only marks a historic achievement for CHIMEI in the CDP assessment but also highlights the international recognition of the company's long-term commitment to sustainable development.
Climate change is a critical issue for corporate sustainability today, and CHIMEI has taken concrete actions to promote low-carbon transformation and sustainable water resource utilization. In terms of carbon reduction, the company has maintained a CDP "A-" leadership rating since 2021, and this year it has leaped to the highest "A" rating, demonstrating remarkable results in its carbon reduction efforts. In 2023, CHIMEI obtained both SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) and <1.5°C target validation, ensuring that its emission reduction strategies are aligned with global climate goals. At the same time, the company has progressively implemented the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework to establish climate risk and opportunity identification and management processes.
Furthermore, CHIMEI successfully reduced carbon emissions through its " Natural Gas Replacement for Heavy Oil Offset Project," becoming the first private enterprise in Taiwan to receive carbon credits issued by the Ministry of Environment. With a total of 320,000 tons of carbon credits, CHIMEI ranks among the top private companies in Taiwan in terms of emission reduction quotas granted under offsetting projects, and it continues to expand its influence through domestic and international carbon trading to drive the industry towards low-carbon transformation.
CDP's "A" rating further solidifies CHIMEI's commitment to its "Clean & Green" vision. Beginning in 2024, the company will expand its internal carbon pricing implementation, promote process improvements, energy transition, third-party verification of the carbon footprint of its entire product line (ISO 14067), and the application of sustainable materials. It will also strengthen collaborations with supply chain partners to jointly accelerate carbon reduction actions. In addition, CHIMEI actively collaborates with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to move towards its 2050 net-zero emissions target. CHIMEI Corporation will continue to leverage its influence to promote industrial transformation through innovative technologies and green solutions, contributing more to global sustainable development.
