In keeping with its “Clean & Green” Vision, CHIMEI Corporation is committed in finding innovative ways to reduce carbon emissions. The long-planned CHIMEI Gas Turbine Cogeneration Plant has completed the contracting of the turnkey project at the end of October 2020, and is expected to be completed and commissioned in November 2022.

This green investment uses natural gas, a clean fuel, to greatly minimize environmental pollution during the power generation process. The residual heat is also recovered to generate steam for use in the production process. The annual carbon emission reduction generated by this project can reach 124,000 metric tons.

The power output capacity of cogeneration system will be 60MW and can generate 500 million kWh of electricity each year. After the completion of this project, combined with the completed solar power plant, CHIMEI’s electricity self-sufficiency will reach 80%.

The turnkey project of the CHIMEI Gas Turbine Cogeneration Plant was jointly contracted by Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation and Toshiba Electronic Components Taiwan Corporation.
