CHIMEI Group's 2022 Sustainability Report has been released recently. This report demonstrates the "A Step Up" spirit that CHIMEI has always adhered to, highlighting the collaborations with clients, employees, family members, supply chain partners, and affiliates in its relentless commitment to sustainability and public welfare.
The CHIMEI 2022 Sustainability Report strictly complies with the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB)’s GRI Standards and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)’s Chemical Standards. All disclosed content has been verified by an independent third party and TÜV NORD that it meets the AA1000 Assurance Standard v3’s Type 1 Moderate Assurance level.
The 2022 sustainability report introduces new features, including a “What’s New?” section on news and recommended priority of reading for stakeholders to focus on new content and topics pertinent to themselves. The 6 key environmental, social, and governance issues determined through questionnaires and stakeholder engagements include: energy conservation and carbon reduction; green product design management; labor relations; employee care and benefits; corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and vision; and product quality.
With regards to environmental achievements, CHIMEI Green Energy Park practices the dual sustainability concepts of green manufacturing and ecological protection. The annual comprehensive ecological survey recorded 282 flora and fauna without heavy metal pollution. Furthermore, installation of nest boxes, floating islands, perches, and conservation measures will be monitored and implemented over the long term in a persistent efforts to protect biodiversity.
On the social front, CHIMEI received the EcoVadis Gold rating, placing us amongst the top 5% of 90,000 companies around the world. We also passed the renewal audit for Social Accountability 8000: 2014 Standard certificate, demonstrating our CSR and compliance with Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) standards for labor; health and safety; environment; ethics; and management systems.
In terms of governance, CHIMEI upholds the Clean & Green policies by launching Ecologue™ sustainable portfolio and ensure all plastic and rubber product lines passed ISO 14067 carbon footprint accreditation and ISCC PLUS certification. By promoting the concept of carbon handprint, we assist clients and collaborates with industry chain partners in reducing the energy consumption of manufacturing processes and carbon emissions. To stay active in green finance in 2022, we issued Taiwan’s first Sustainability-Linked Bond, signed Sustainability-Linked Loans with banks, and responded to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) by undertaking green deposits and participating in Singapore’s Climate Impact X (CIX) carbon trade marketplace. Furthermore, Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations were incorporated in our climate change risks/opportunities matrix and scenario analysis to make timely adjustments to operating strategies, as well as implement and monitor carbon reduction results.
